Starbucks Now Has Its Very First Plant-based Protein Coffee Drink

Many Starbucks patrons, especially those who want more protein, just had something to celebrate. A Starbucks coffee drink that is plant-based.

The company is launching Protein Blended Cold Brew in almond and cacao flavors, available now through the fall, while supplies last.

These non-dairy 16-ounce drinks are made from pea and brown-rice protein.

“Plant-based beverages, plant-based proteins are a choice that many consumers are gravitating towards,” said CEO Kevin Johnson at an annual institutional-investor gathering in June.

Three out of five Americans say they want more protein in their diets, according NPD Group, a research firm.

The company’s full announcement on August 14th, reads as follows:

Starting today, Starbucks customers looking for a new way to refuel can find plant-based Starbucks Protein Blended Cold Brew on menus nationwide.
